Staged Italian Opera Scenes

Vox Integra Summer Course - Feltre, Italy

21–30 August 2026

Spend a week immersed in the craft of Italian opera in the historic citadel of Feltre, at the foot of the Dolomites in Northern Italy.

The Vox Integra Staged Italian Opera Scenes course brings singers together for an intensive residential week dedicated to Italian repertoire. Participants work closely with an experienced international faculty through individual coaching, ensemble rehearsal, masterclasses, and staged scene work, culminating in performances in the historic Teatro de la Sena, often affectionately called the Piccola Fenice.

This course offers singers the opportunity to develop their technique, deepen their interpretation of Italian opera, and bring repertoire to life in a collaborative and supportive artistic environment.

WHAT THE COURSE INCLUDES

Participants take part in an intensive programme designed to explore the musical, technical, and dramatic aspects of Italian opera performance.

The course includes:

• One-to-one specialist voice lessons
• Diagnostic vocal sessions
• Music coaching
• Language coaching for Italian repertoire
• Characterisation and role study sessions
• Interpretation and rehearsal of opera scenes
• Intensive musical and staging rehearsals with stage and musical director
• Group classes in movement, stagecraft, and body work
• Breathing and body awareness work
• Ensemble coaching and chorus sessions when not performing a solo role
• Masterclasses focused on interpretation, diction, musicality, and expression in Italian repertoire

Throughout the week, singers work on both solo and ensemble repertoire, developing performances through rehearsal and coaching before presenting staged scenes in performance.

The course is limited to a maximum of 20 singers to ensure that every participant receives substantial individual attention.

Participants in Vox courses range from talented and passionate amateurs to aspiring professionals and singers at the beginning of their careers, as well as established performers who wish to focus on artistic development.

Our focus is on supporting each singer’s individual artistic journey. Whatever a participant’s starting point, each singer can expect high-quality professional coaching within a friendly and supportive environment.

In return, participants are expected to approach the course with a professional attitude. This includes learning repertoire in advance, arriving prepared for rehearsals, maintaining punctuality, and participating fully in all group activities.

Opera is inherently collaborative, and we value teamwork, generosity, and mutual support throughout the rehearsal process.

Vox does not hold formal auditions but applicants may be asked to provide a recent video recording of an aria of their choice, preferably Italian.

Rather than fitting singers into predetermined scenes, repertoire and scenes are selected to suit the individual voices and development of the singers participating in the course.

LOCATION

Feltre is a historic city located at the foot of the Dolomites, surrounded by spectacular mountain landscapes and national parkland.

The course is based primarily at Palazzo Guarnieri, an elegant historic building overlooking the Piazza Maggiore, and Palazzo Zasio, home to the Scuola di Musica Francesco Sandi.

Performances take place in the remarkable Teatro de la Sena, a jewel of Italian theatre architecture designed by the same architect responsible for Venice’s Teatro La Fenice.

The city itself is rich in history, with medieval walls, frescoed palaces, museums, churches, and historic streets. Feltre also offers easy access to hiking trails and mountain scenery within the Parco Nazionale Dolomiti Bellunesi.
