Very Exciting News for Feltre 2020!

We are thrilled to announce two new outstanding guest tutors for our 3rd Annual Staged Opera Scenes in Feltre, Italy from August 15 - 23, 2020.

It’s a pleasure to welcome Musical Director Paolo Vaglieri and Stage Director Mario Corradi to Vox Integra’s Staged Opera Scenes workshop this summer. Both Maestro Vaglieri and Maestro Corradi have extensive experience in Italy and around the world and it is an honour to have them on our team.

Mario Corradi was assistant director to Jean-Pierre Ponnelle and to Ken Russell and has directed in opera houses all over the world. He has worked with notable artists such as Frederica von Stade, Fiorenza Cossotto, Piero Cappuccilli, Denyce Graves, Vladimir Galouzine, Renato Bruson, Lucia Valentini Terrani and Daniela Dessi. His repertoire spans from Monteverdi to contemporary composers. In the past he has taught at the University of Notre Dame, Yale University and the Catholic University of Milan. He often gives masterclasses for young singers.This year in Feltre, he will be teaching and staging all of our scenes. His focus, among other things, will be the importance of stage craft, text interpretation, diction and pronunciation.

Paolo Vaglieri is not only an accomplished pianist, but also an established conductor and highly acclaimed vocal coach. He has been invited to conduct opera, symphonic repertoire and ballet in Italy and extensively abroad, including, among others the Museo del Teatro alla Scala (four operas and various symphonic concerts), Théâtre de Chaillot (Paris) Kleine Comedie (Amsterdam), Holland Festival, Festival dei Due Mondi (Spoleto and Charleston), Meersburg Festival (San Francisco), Theatre Taganskij (Moscow and Leningrad), Società dei Concerti (Milan), and performances in London, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Barcelona, Valencia, Madrid, Danzig, Belgium, etc). In 1992 he conducted Franchetti’s “Cristoforo Colombo” opera for La Scala Theatre in Milan and Buenos Aires.

As Maestro Carlo Maria Giulini’s assistant, he prepared singers and orchestras for many of Maestro Giulini’s productions , including Maestro Giulini’s last performance of Verdi’s Requiem Mass before the great conductor’s retirement in 1998 (Torino and Paris). In Maestro Giulini opinion, Paolo is “one of the most profound vocal experts that I have ever met in my life” (Corriere della Sera January 1998). He was a Vocal Coach at La Scala , Milan from 1980 to 1985 and since then has coached singers from all over the world. As well as conducting the scenes he will be coaching singers on all aspects of bel canto repertoire.
