A rare opportunity to work with the late tenor Luciano Pavarotti’s protegé, the internationally renowned soprano Madelyn Renée and the esteemed author, director , teacher John Ramster. On the piano, conductor and vocal coach, Kelvin Lim.

Madelyn will be coming from Milan

To do an intensive weekend with selected singers on ITALIAN REPERTOIRE. She will be joined by the prominent director, teacher and writer JOHN RAMSTER, who together through masterclasses and workshops will explore “Dramatic Expression” in singing.

Kelvin Lim

Kelvin has been Vocal Coach and Co-Director of Postgraduate Opera at Trinity Laban Conservatoire since 2008, and has coached for the Jette Parker Young Artists ROH & was Senior Coach and Course Director of Morley College Opera Course. Kelvin has gained recognition as vocal coach particularly in the Wagner repertoire, having been accompanist for the Wagner Society & Mastersingers for over a decade, and a recipient of the Bayreuth Bursary Prize.

Friday Evening: Orientation. Meet Madelyn. Sing to her!

The evening begins with a big welcome to London’s prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama from Theresa Goble, Founder of Vox Integra, and Madeyn Renée, internationally renowned soprano. Some general information about the course will be discussed. Madelyn will make some introductory remarks about her work and life as a singer. All participants will then have the opportunity to sing the piece(s) they will be bringing to the workshop. This evening is all about getting to know each other and breaking the ice for the intensive weekend workshop.

 

Saturday: Workshop and Masterclasses

10am-1pm: Small group masterclasses with Madelyn

10am-1pm: Small group workshops with John Ramster

1-2pm: Lunch

2-5:30pm: Work from morning continued in a JOINT MASTERCLASS

The weekend course at the National Opera Studio will be conducted in small groups in order to receive maximum individual attention from Madelyn and John. Emphasis will be placed on realising dramatic expression through the voice by also integrating acting, gesture , body awareness and breath. Themes explored during the week end will be brought together in masterclasses on the Sunday. The masterclass on Sunday afternoon will be open to the public.

John Ramster, award winning director, teacher and writer has worked on productions world wide including in Britain: London and Glyndebourne in Sussex; Bergen, Norway; Scotland; Turku, Finland;
Belgrade, Serbia; Portugal and many more. John is renowned for drawing strongly vivid performances from his casts.


Participants will benefit enormously whilst receiving coaching from these two invaluable perspectives - Madelyn as an acclaimed performer with years of first-hand experience and John as a skilled and
esteemed director and hands-on master teacher.

Participants can expect to receive invaluable, personal feedback and information about their singing, and their impact as performers. This is a rare chance to learn from individuals who are not only considered  experts in their field, but are highly adept at imparting their knowledge, tips and know-how.
