Cooper Hall Emerging Artists Workshop

Cooper Hall is a venue in Somerset that hosts an eclectic mix of musical events and in particular supports creative initiatives. VOX integra is proud to have an association with the venue through tutor Morag McLaren, who set up the Cooper Hall Foundation there in 2012 and is its Creative Director.

She has also established the Cooper Hall Emerging Artists Workshop there. Singers are invited to stay at the hall, in the grounds of Selwood Manor, Frome, Somerset. Its “Creative Haven” offers peace, tranquility and seclusion in an inspiring woodland setting and allows performers to work intensively on the production, combining rehearsal time with workshops and holistic support from other “singing friendly” practitioners.

As a result of participating in VOX Integra courses, several singers have been given opportunities to perform at Cooper Hall, being cast in operas, or by invitation to present individual performance projects.

Examples of performances directed by Morag at Cooper Hall include Benjamin Britten’s The Turn of the Screw (July 2013), Englebert Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel (July 2014) and Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutti (July 2015), in collaboration with Bath Philharmonia and Frome Festival. For 2016 Cooper Hall moved from classical to music theatre with its acclaimed production of Sondheim's A Weekend in the Country.
